New Deal for Young People

New Deal for Young People is a programme of help designed to address the problems of long-term unemployment in 18-24 year olds. The aim of New Deal for Young People is to improve young people’s chances of finding and keeping a job.

One of the options available to young people under New Deal is the 2-week Gateway to Work course which EDET delivers every month from Enterprise House in Kirkintilloch.  This intensive, full-time course is specifically designed to equip participants with the full range of job search tools and techniques, CV preparation, communication skills and confidence building . Above all, the course focuses on active, daily job search with the express aim of giving every participant maximum opportunity to apply for jobs and achieve a successful outcome.

New Deal 25 plus

New Deal 25 plus is a programme of help designed to address the problems of long-term unemployment in jobseekers aged 25 and over. The aim of New Deal 25 plus is to improve people’s chances of finding and keeping a job.

New Deal 25 plus gives individuals a chance to review their situation, take the skills and experience they may have already and build on them to create better opportunities for work.  It can also help in addressing barriers which may be preventing access to work.

EDET delivers a 13-week full-time course designed to help New Deal 25 plus jobseekers. The course is structured around individually tailored packages of support, guidance and training including intensive jobsearch, job-focused training, interview preparation, computer and Internet skills, confidence building, overcoming barriers to employment and access to work experience with local employers.  Active jobsearch is a central feature of the course and is conducted on a daily basis to ensure participants maximise all opportunities to return to work.

New Deal is funded by Jobcentreplus and delivered in partnership with East Dunbartonshire Council.
